book #1 "the ones who walk away from omelas"

yupp...so for my book review 'project', I decided to put the title as my post entry, so it'll be easier for me to track hehehe. but for the song im listening to right now, it's "heart attack" demi lovato.

alright let's not waste time and go straight to my book review. this time, it's The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas by Ursula K. Le Guin. this one is just a short story, not a novel but it's very good. oh before that. a bit disclaimer; i had read the story like a very long time ago so maybe there are things i mentioned that wouldnt be accurate but im pretty sure the gist of the story is still clear in my mind. so apologies in advance :)

this book, is actually quite dark. a story of people in a village / city of Omelas whose happiness depends on the misery of a child. in order to live a prosperous life, they did it as a tradition to lock a child in some kind of closet. kind of a psycho ritual (if you ask me) but they believed that was the reason for their happy and luxurious life in Omelas. because the author explained vividly how prosperous the city became- with delightful festivals. crops growing very greatly. water & food sources like it's never ending. and etc. but there was a child locked beneath all that. sooo--- yeah. psycho brooo

it's a short story and i finished reading like in less than 30 minutes. but you should read it. trust me. the use of words and the vivid imagery used were amazing! I learnt lots of new words and new ways of writing such imagery. the author did great. i love how they used the words and sentences and etc. and though it's clearly kind of a dark story, they didnt really have that kind of gloomy mood. so for me the irony element was splendid. and also-- lots of metaphors used. and you have to quite use your brain like A LOT to interpret the meaning behind the author's words. quite deep. not straight forward. but i like it. kinda mysterious at the same time :)

!!! SPOILER AHEAD !!!

and at the end, of course, as they found out there are more of the world out there than their little city, they kinda moved out of it, leaving the poor child still locked. that's why they were called The Ones Who Walked Away from Omelas.

AN: my first book review was stupid and a failure HAHAHAHAHA. that's because i think cause ive read the book so many times ago so the review is not that explicit cause there are some parts ive forgotten already. I promised next one would be better. I'll try my best!

ANNNDDD im thinking of talking about movies ive recently watched too! so itll be kept here forever. as memories <3 for now, bye !
